The most exquisite perfume will never equal to the scent of the last autumn flowers.
Each season has its own smells. Winter smells of frost and snow, spring smells of melted water, earth and young greenery, summer smells of heat and thunder. Autumn smells of fruit and fallen leaves. But for me, the smell of autumn is the smell of the last autumn flowers — chrysanthemums, the scent of which cannot be compared to the scent of the most exquisite perfume. I have conveyed my feelings of this fragrance in this painting.

Japan. The Goddess of Mercy will save the world(Collection: «Big pandemic»)
Illustration of events 2020 — 2021.
At some point of the pandemic, a lot of people have begun to realize the world and themselves in it differently, their place in cosmic evolution, the great importance and significance of religious norms and ethics and their thoughts and behaviour. I think that in order to direct the consciousness and thoughts of millions of people towards mercy and kindness, Japan has put a mask on the world’s largest statue of the Buddhist Goddess Kannon, the Goddess of Compassion and Mercy.

The imposition of eras and architectural styles. Probably, there are few cities in the world where buildings built over three centuries are located on such a small area.
Historical center of Kiev. The Holy Vvedensky Monastery (Russian Orthodox Church) was founded at the end of the 19th century. It is famous for the miraculous icon of the Mother of God “Look at humility”. In August 1993, the face of the Virgin and Child miraculously imprinted on the glass that covered the icon. The monastery is located on Moskovskaya street, which arose in the early 18th century. In the 19th century this street was the main street in Kiev.

Fear has gripped the world. Fear in the eyes of all humanity — fear of sickness, fear of death, fear of being isolated, fear of losing someone. A huge world, a huge metropolis and this small creature that seems bigger than the whole world. I have tried to capture the sense of fear that millions of people around the world felt when the pandemic began. An intense fear and great dread settled in the minds of most of the world’s people with the onset of pandemic COVID 19. Many in the media called it the plague of the 21st century. The masked regime, social distancing and self-isolation have become the basis of everyone’s life. Without a mask is like without a passport.

Agapetus of Pechersk (Bezmezdnik) XI century — the monk of the Kievo-Pechersky monastery, doctor bezmezdny (Unmercenary Physician). He is venerated in the holy Russian Orthodox Church as a saint. Agapetus is considered to be the first healer (physician) of Kievan Rus, glorified by his gratuitous help to ill people. He gained great fame by healing patients through prayer and bylai, a special herb which he used to prepare and give to the sick. According to his hagiography he healed the Chernigov grand prince Vladimir Monomakh. His relics are stored in the Near Caves of Kiev Pechersk Lavra. The painting depicts Agapetus of Pechersk, Vladimir Monomakh and a practicing Armenian physician who was jealous of Agapetus. Having seen Agapetus heal many patients through prayer, he converted to Orthodoxy and accepted monasticism. The picture was painted for the opening of the church of Saint Agapetus of Pechersk in Kyiv-Pechersk Lavra.

I think that all inhabitants of Ukraine remembered the first day of the war. Missiles and warplanes in the sky, explosions on the ground and in the air, panic in the cities and traffic jams on the roads to the west. I captured one of the moments of that day in this picture.
